Arbury & Stockingford By-election

tom wilson

With the County Council elections out  of the way, one would have thought that that would be enough excitement for now. Unfortunately, however, our recently elected County Councillor for Arbury and Stockingford has had to resign his seat and cause a by-election.

Tom was, until recently, employed as a chaperone with Warwickshire County Council helping the elderly and disabled get onto and off of minibuses provided by the County. Being a community-minded person, Tom thought that he would help the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth and enjoyed his job.

However, once he put in his nomination papers for the County Council elections he discovered that it might not be allowed and submitted his resignation as soon as possible to the Social Services Department at Shire Hall.

Having been slaughtered at the County Council elections, Labour are now determined to do as much as they can to ensure that the voice of the people are now heard. I produce the election results below to illustrate:

Candidate Party Votes %
Alty, James Christopher Myles Green 692 7.69
Findley, Martyn Russell BNP 1283 14.27
Henry, Pat Labour 1472 16.37
Longden, Barry James Labour 1480 16.46
Wilson, Sonja Lund Conservative 1582 17.59
Wilson, Tom Conservative 1637 18.2
Wright, Mike Green 848 9.43

As can clearly be seen from the table above, Tom Wilson was the choice of the people of Arbury and Stockingford, the area where he was born and bred, to represent them at Shire Hall. Unfortunately, Labour are rather sore losers.

Therefore, with a heavy heart, Tom decided to resign his seat, that was hard fought for, and cause a by-election. I for one will certainly be out there with him fighting to ensure that the residents of Arbury and Stockingford are listened to once again, and that Labour hear loud and clear the result of the people of Arbury and Stockingford.
